We are delighted to announce that the “Disaster Management Policy Program (DMP)" has been honored with an award in the “Pioneering Activities" category at the 6th “Japan Construction International Award" organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

What is the “Disaster Management Policy Program (DMP)"?
JICA Tsukuba aims to cultivate core researchers, engineers, and government officials who can contribute to disaster prevention. The two programs on “Seismology, Earthquake Engineering and Tsunami Disaster Mitigation" and “Flood Disaster Risk Reduction" are conducted in collaboration with the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), the International Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering (IISEE), and the International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM). As the programs are registered as a GRIPS' master's program “Disaster Management Policy Program (DMP)," participants can obtain a master's degree in “Disaster Policy" within one year.

Since its inception in 2005, the “Disaster Management Policy Program (DMP)" has welcomed a total of 503 participants from 66 countries/regions, including 333 in “Seismology, Earthquake Engineering and Tsunami Disaster Mitigation", and 170 in “Flood Disaster Risk Reduction". After returning to their home countries, these participants have assumed key positions in government and research institutions dedicated to architecture, infrastructure, and disaster management. They play a crucial role in policy formulation and implementation, utilizing their specialized expertise. Their active engagement is instrumental in driving advancements in these fields and effectively mitigating the impact of disasters.

Once again, we're honored by the recognition of the “Disaster Management Policy Program (DMP)". With our continued efforts to train and empower future leaders, we strive towards a safer and more resilient world.
