Signing MOU between JICA and Indonesia AID for strengthening the Partnership

As part of the further promotion of third country cooperation with Indonesia, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (hereinafter referred to as JICA) signed an Memorandum of Understanding with the Indonesian Agency for International Development (hereinafter referred to as Indonesian AID) to promote stronger partnerships including strengthening cooperation between both parties and improving the skills of those staff on October 30th 2023.
The MOU was signed by Takehiro Yasui, Chief Representative of JICA Indonesia Office and Tormarbulang Lumbantobing, CEO of Indonesian AID, in the presence of President Tanaka and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, during President Tanaka visit to Indonesia.
Third country cooperation between the two countries has been also one of the important topics of the discussion in the Japan-Indonesia Economic Cooperation Policy Consultation held between the both governments on October 17, 2023. This MOU will contribute to strengthening this cooperation and the promotion of partnership between JICA and Indonesia AID.
Indonesia AID has newly been established in 2019 as a foreign aid agency under the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, and is implementing technical cooperation projects and grant aid projects in cooperation with various ministries and agencies in the Indonesian government.
Currently, Indonesia AID are mainly providing cooperations by accepting trainees from abroad, dispatching experts to several countries, and providing materials and equipment procured within Indonesia to recipient countries.
Under these circumstances, JICA is supporting Indonesian AID to improve capabilities and launch their projects, including providing training in Japan and dispatching joint missions to third countries. Under the MoU that JICA and Indonesia AID have signed, Both parties will further strengthen the partnership and promote third country cooperation between the parties.
