Phase II – Multipurpose Lecture Theatre

Background:
Currently under construction, the Multi-purpose lecture theatre right next the Japan-Pacific ICT Center, was a part of the Japanese government offered additional grant aid to supplement the function of the new ICT Center.

Project Period:
15th June 2010 – 31st October 2011

Period Budget:
JP 857 million yen (approx: FJ$ 18 million)

Facilities:
Seating for 300 and stage production facility

Target Area:
Fiji and all of USP member countries.

Beneficiaries:
Students of USP, USP Staff and Pacific Communities.

Target Group:
USP community and students, staff – Computing Science, Engineering, GIS, ITS, Community, Researches and Industry.

Some Expected Outcomes:

  • Human Resources Development (Education and Training) – a focus on students' education
  • Institutional Strengthening – focus on staff training, research and institutional outreach
  • Strengthening Research in ICTs for Education and Training especially in content development.
  • Community building and culture sharing through ICTs - preserving indigenous knowledge; sharing new ideas.
  • ICTs and Economic and Sustainable Development – contributing to the knowledge society
  • Innovation and design
