Volunteer Program

Priority Areas of Current JICA Volunteers

Education:Basic and PEMAC Education, Special Education, Mathematics, TVET
Health: Infectious Diseases Control, Community Nursing, HIV/AIDS Control, Physical Therapy, Youth Activities
Rural Livelihood: Community Development, Fisheries, Civil Engineering, Surveying, Vocational Training, Information Technology, Japanese Language Education, Small and Micro Enterprise Development
Environment: Environmental Education

Procedures for Requesting JICA Volunteers

  • The recipient organization is required to identify the technical assistance required of a JICA Volunteer and write formally to the JICA Fiji Office.
  • The JICA Fiji Office will hold preliminary discussion with the recipient organization on this request to assess the needs.
  • An official volunteer request form will be given to the recipient organization to complete and submit to the JICA Fiji Office for checking.
  • Once the Forms are correctly completed, the recipient organization will then be required to send the Form with the covering letter to the line Ministry.
  • The line Ministry will forward the Form with a covering letter to the Public Service Commission (PSC).
  • PSC will endorse the request and forward to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a covering letter.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will endorse this request and forward it to the Embassy of Japan and to the JICA Fiji Office.
  • JICA Fiji Office will send this request to the JICA Headquarters (HDQ) in Japan for recruitment and selection of suitable volunteer.
  • The JICA Fiji Office will convey the result from the JICA HDQ to the respective department and the line Ministry.
