Held Seminar on monitoring core provinces

In September, 2022, the project selected five core provinces (Dornod, Tuv, Khuvsgul, Umnugovi, and Hovd) that are expected to perform a central role in each region. And together with the monitored kindergartens and monitored schools selected in each core province, provincial Department of Education, and Sub Commissions of Health, Education and Social Protection for Children with Disabilities, we have been working on inclusive education promotion activities. In the fall of 2022 and spring of 2023, the project visited the core provinces with Ministry of Education officials and special schools’ teachers to conduct monitoring. During the monitoring, we (1) checked and advised on the implementation status of inclusive education promotion activities at monitored kindergartens and monitored schools, (2) participated and advised at Case Conferences held by Sub Commissions, (3) held training for kindergarten and school administrators and teachers, and (4) held interviews with the prefectural governor and director of the provincial Department of Education.

On June 6th, 2023, the project held a seminar on core province monitoring. We discussed ways to expand the inclusive kindergartens and schools that the project has been promoting in Ulaanbaatar and its core provinces to the rest of the country. At the seminar, 20 people attended at the Ulaanbaatar Hotel, and the event was also streamed online to approximately 30 participants from the core provinces. With the participants, we reviewed the activities of the current academic year with preschool education officers and IE officers from Ulaanbaatar and the five core provinces, and discussed the activities planned for the next year to promote inclusive education in 16 provinces other than the core provinces. It was agreed to accept visitors from neighboring provinces during the two more core province monitoring sessions, to conduct visits of Ulaanbaatar by officials from 16 provinces, and to consider the use of online training and conferences for the nationwide dissemination of inclusive education.

The project will continue to focus on spreading inclusive education throughout all kindergartens and schools in Mongolia and to continue to cooperate with people in the limited time remaining until the end of the project.
