The workshop was held to give explanations of the backgrounds, purposes and implementation plans of the pilot project to the communities around the pilot site for smooth implementation of the pilot project. The venue of the workshop was Situm Primary School along the pilot road and the students welcomed the DoW and JICA expert team by flower necklaces and "SING SING" which is PNG's traditional dance.

At the beginning of the workshop, welcome remarks were expressed by the Vice Minister of Education who is from Morobe province and by Labuta local members for the opportunity of implementing the pilot project in Bukawa Road. DoW and JICA expert team explained the outline of the pilot project and asked for the cooperation of community.

The most of participants think, the communities along the Bukawa road have been left out of the development for a long time and this project is a big opportunity for the community's prosperity. The population of communities is increasing along the road which there are many plantations of coffee, cocoa and other crops, the improvement of road accessibility will bring the benefits to communities.

On the other hands, a participant pointed out the dissatisfaction with late notice of this workshop but the explanation was made and promised by DoW staff that "this workshop is just the beginning and continuous explanation to the community will be carried out".
