The 37th National Science Day and Science Festival to Celebrate the 28th Anniversary of the Establishment of the National University of Laos (NUOL) and the International Conference on Natural Science and Engineering (ICNSE2024) were held!

On November 5 and 6, 2024, the National University of Laos (NUOL) celebrated the 37th National Science Day and Science Festival to Celebrate the 28th Anniversary of the Establishment of the National University of Laos (NUOL). The grand opening ceremony was held in the morning of November 5 at the Dongdok Campus, where Dr. Sourioudong SUNDARA, Vice Minister of Education and Sports, Ms. KOBAYASHI Miyako, Chief Representative of JICA Laos Office and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dexanoulath SEANDOUANGDETH, Acting President of NUOL, gave opening speeches.

From the afternoon of the 5th, the side events were held. The National and International Conferences on Social Sciences and Development were organized at the Dongdok Campus, while the International Conference on Natural Science and Engineering was held in the Sokpaluang campus. The Faculty of Engineering (FEN), supported by the HUGETECH Project, has upgraded its technical presentation event, which have been held for the past three years, to an international conference with the support of the HUGETECH Project/JICA, Institute of Science Tokyo, and Climate Compatible Growth.

In the afternoon of the 5th, keynote speeches were given by Prof. Dr. ABE Naoya of Institute of Science Tokyo, Ms. Vannapha PHOMMATHANSY, Deputy Director General of the Digital Government Center, Ministry of Technology and Communications, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khampaseuth THEPVONGSA, Vice Dean of FEN. They spoke on how to utilize technology for sustainable development in Lao PDR, strategic plan for digital transformation in Laos, and research strategies at FEN.

In the morning of the 6th, research presentations were given by researchers and students from 10 departments of FEN, Mahidol University, Institute of Technology of Cambodia, and Imperial College, and in the afternoon of the 6th, a workshop was held jointly by Climate Compatible Growth and FEN. A total of 700 people attended this two-day event.
