As the final Editorial Board Meeting during the period of the ARCH Project, this meeting marked an important milestone. It included progress reports on the publication preparations for AJDHM Issues No. 3 (Vol. 2, No. 1) and No. 4 (Vol. 2, No. 2), discussions on challenges toward ensuring sustainable publication, and deliberations on the concept note for a special issue. In addition, in preparation for the transition of Associate Editors, the meeting expressed appreciation for their contributions to the journal since its inaugural issue and provided updates on the formal appointment of new editors. Going forward, the newly nominated Associate Editors will be officially endorsed by the SC/AANDHM completing the formal transition.

Although the publication of an academic journal is by no means an easily achievable endeavor, this meeting recognized the significant time and effort devoted by the Production Unit—from the journal’s establishment to its regular publication—as well as the contributions of ASEAN Academic Network members, including the Japanese Association for Disaster Medicine, who have supported these efforts. It is hoped that the network will be further strengthened to address future improvements and achieve continued advancement.

The SC/AANDHM Meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Mr. Paisan from the National Institute for Emergency Medicine, Thailand. The meeting placed particular focus on discussions regarding the 4th ASEAN Academic Conference on Disaster Health Management, which is planned to be held in 2027. Malaysia has expressed its intention to host this conference, and preparations have now reached the stage of developing a proposal to obtain approval under the ASEAN Health Cluster framework. These discussions and decisions can be regarded as one of the key roles of the SC/AANDHM.

As this conference is also supported by JICA, it is expected that collaboration with Japan will be further strengthened and that the discussions will lead to meaningful outcomes. In addition, the activity plan leading up to the launch of the ARCH Plus Project was confirmed, and it is hoped that the activities coordinated by AIDHM will be implemented smoothly.
