The first inspection visits to Yogyakarta, Indonesia ~Preparation for the big regional event~

On 3rd-6th of April 2023, the ARCH Project and Thai Taskforce visited Yogyakarta, Indonesia to meet with the preparation team of the 2nd ASEAN Academic Conference on Disaster Health Management (AAC on DHM) from the Ministry of Health, Indonesia, and Gadjah Mada University (UGM).

This regional conference is held once in 2 years and the previous conference was organized online conference in 2021, due to the global pandemic, under hosting by the National Institute for Emergency Medicine, Thailand. To accelerate the preparation, we had a meeting to discuss more concrete preparation for the 2nd AAC on DHM which will be hosted by UGM, Indonesia. This conference will be the first in-person event to represent the ASEAN Academic Network on Disaster Health Management (AANDHM) supported by JICA funding. Through this AANDHM, AMS and ARCH Project will open the new dialogue to try for enhancing a capacity in academic field to make disaster experiences to the scientific discussion in the region.

This meeting was also confirmed and recognized that the preparation steps to established the ASEAN Institute for Disaster Health Management (AIDHM) which will be the hub of DHM development in the ASEAN to operate multiple coordination to conduct and implement all the relevant activities of DHM. Indonesia is now planning to inaugurate officially in the occasion of AAC on DHM and confirmed with ASEAN Secretariat the progress of the endorsement of its concept note in ASEAN political framework. This is a very first step to proceed with all the planned academic activities in ARCH Project, but a big initiation for the future development for the Knowledge Management for future.
