Participation in the 5th Japan-ASEAN Smart City Meeting

The "5th Japan-ASEAN Smart City Network High-Level Meeting" was held on October 26 and 27, 2023 at the International Conference Center in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, inviting ASEAN countries, related ministries, and related local governments in Japan. Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province, Director of Inter-sectoral division, and Chief Advisor for the Project had participated the meeting. And from the Cambodian government, officials from the Ministry of Interior, Phnom Penh, and Battambang provincial governments had also participated the meeting.

At the October 26th meeting, the theme was "Disaster Prevention - Resilience," and presenters from Japan and overseas shared successful examples of smart city initiatives. And on October 27th, participants from ASEAN visited the Kumagai Gumi Tsukuba Technical Research and Development Institute and the Cybernics Research Center at the University of Tsukuba, and observed Japan's advanced initiatives such as disaster prevention architecture and VR development.

In addition, on the days before and after the meeting, participants visited the Tokyo Fire Department Life Safety Learning Center, Japan IT Week held at Makuhari Messe, and Cyberdyne Inc. in Tsukuba City.
