Study visit to understand the development of Siem Reap smart city and initiative to prepare smart city development strategy in Preah Sihanouk Province
On 29th January 2024, 34 delegates from Preah Sihanouk Province came to visit Siem Reap and learn from Siem Reap Smart City implementation.
The study visit for Siem Reap and Preah Sihanouk Province was organized to exchange experiences in the sector. The visit included a workshop to share experiences and knowledge on smart cities and a site visit.
In the workshop, Mr Em Pheap, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province in charge of smart city, gave a presentation on what his province has been doing related to smart city. After that Mr Yun Linne, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province in charge of smart city, presented about smart city implementation in Siem Reap. This followed by presentation by Mr Thoeurt Soviet, Director of Intersectoral Division and Mr Kang Chhivly, a member of JICA Expert Team both of whom presented in detail about implementation structures by Smart City Secretariat, Creating Siem Reap Smart City Roadmap, Capacity Building for relatives, Pilot Projects Implementation and Monitoring and Evaluation measures. During morning session, Siem Reap Province provided some the roadmap documents to Preah Sihanouk provincial delegates as well.
After the presentation, participants from Preah Sihanouk Province were interested in what Siem Reap has done and they asked some important questions. Among them, Mr Em Pheap showed his interest in how Siem Reap established Smart City Secretariat to be an implementation body in this meantime when Smart City Division is not established in Cambodia.
After lunch time on the same day, the Preah Sihanouk provincial delegates came to visit Siem Reap provincial hall where Mr Yun Linne continued to show the illegal parking monitoring system in the monitoring room, and then the administration division of Siem Reap demonstrated on how they use DTS system for documentation process in the provincial hall.
At the end of the event at the provincial hall, Mr Em Pheap and his team showed much interest in the smart city project of Siem Reap, and Mr Yun Linne gave a friendly closing remarks which he welcomes any future collaboration with Preah Sihanouk Province no matter how big or small that will be.
