Participation in Cambodia-Japan Smart City Networking Workshop
On Friday, August 9, 2024, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction of Cambodia (MLMUPC), the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, JAXA and JICA held a networking workshop to promote international cooperation on smart cities between Japan and Cambodia in the MLMUPC’s main conference room.
A handover ceremony was also held at the same time to mark the handover of JAXA's earth observation satellite ALOS (Daichi) to provide satellite images covering all of Cambodia, which was agreed upon during a visit to JAXA's Tsukuba Space Center by H.E. Dr. Say Sam Al., Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of MLMUPC in February this year.
The Siem Reap Smart City project team also introduced the project activities and engaged in networking with representatives from Japanese companies who participated in the workshop, as well as relevant Cambodian government organizations, including the MLMUPC, and provincial government officials who attended the symposium. In the future, we would like to seek the way of collaboration with JAXA and Japanese companies with space development technology to explore promoting smart cities using satellite data.
