Siem Reap Smart City Consortium: Core Members Meeting - Result of PoC and Discussion on TWG
On March 4, 2025, approximately 50 core members of the Siem Reap Smart City Consortium, consisting of industry, government, academia and community, gathered to attend both a reporting session on Proof-of-Concept (PoC) activities aimed at validating ideas for realizing smart cities by two student teams and two teams from the private sector, and a discussion the activities of the Technical Working Group (TWG).
In the reporting session on the PoC activities in the first half of the meeting, the student teams proposed measures based on research and analysis on pedestrian safety in the downtown of Siem Reap using smart technology, as well as a proposal for tourism promotion based on an analysis of information posted on social media and websites related to tourism in Siem Reap.
Additionally, private sector teams made proposals to improve public safety by utilizing emergency button systems installed under this PoC in downtown, as well as new ways to promote tourism by analyzing data such as location data from the tourists’ smartphone.
In the second half of the meeting, the future activities for the two TWGs established at the consortium meeting in December 2024, "Tourism" and "Security," were discussed. It was confirmed that the activities would be further refined, taking into consideration the results of these PoC reports.
