Workshop on Ensuring Sustainability at Target Institutions under the CBNS-II Project

The “Workshop on Ensuring Sustainability at Target Institutions under the CBNS-II Project” was conducted on April 22–23 and April 29–30, 2026. The first batch, held on April 22–23, targeted Dhaka, Gazipur, Barisal, and Sylhet, while the second batch, held on April 29–30, targeted Mymensingh, Rangpur, Chattogram, and Rajshahi. A total of two batches were conducted.

Due to the impact of the situation in the Middle East, restrictions on inter-district travel have been imposed in Bangladesh since early April. Therefore, the workshop was conducted in a hybrid format, in which participants gathered at divisional venues and the venues were connected online.

The participants included 64 Master Trainers (MTs) from the target nursing colleges and hospitals, as well as some Clinical Nursing Teachers (CNTs) who had been trained by the MTs. A total of 77 participants attended the two batches.

The workshop focused on two aspects of sustainability: “micro-level sustainability,” which aims to ensure the continuation of activities at each institution, and “macro-level sustainability,” which aims to sustain efforts to improve the quality of nursing throughout Bangladesh even after the completion of the project.

To promote the continuation of activities at each institution, participants reflected on past project activities and discussed the actions necessary to sustain these efforts after the project ends. At the conclusion of the workshop, each institution developed an action plan for the continuation of future activities.

In addition, the project is scheduled to hold a seminar for sharing project achievements in May. During the latter half of the workshop, participants reviewed the progress and changes observed in the field and discussed and prepared presentation contents for the upcoming seminar.

Originally, each batch had been planned as a fully face-to-face workshop in a single venue. Therefore, some participants expressed disappointment that it was not possible to conduct the workshop entirely in person. At the same time, however, the divisional arrangement enabled more in-depth discussions between nursing colleges and hospitals within each division.

The project has promoted various forms of collaboration, including partnerships between nursing colleges and hospitals as well as inter-divisional collaboration. This workshop not only strengthened collaboration among colleges and hospitals within each division through face-to-face discussions, but also promoted collaboration across divisions, as each division shared the results of their group work with other divisions and exchanged ideas and feedback.
During the remaining project period, the project will continue supporting the sustained implementation of activities at the target institutions while widely disseminating the project achievements through the upcoming seminar.
