Clinical Nurse Teacher Development Training Held at the Clinical Practice Collaborative Hospital

Clinical Nurse Teacher (CNT) training was held at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital (ShSMCH), one of our clinical practice collaborative hospitals, for six days from 6th July to 11th July.

The lecturers were master trainers who were trained in February of this year. In addition to the three MTs from the ShSMCH, MTs from the collaborate hospital of Barisal, Gazipur, and Mymensingh also participated as lecturers.

For the MTs, this was the first time to organizing the training by themselves. They took the lead in creating the lecture program, coordinating with the hospitals, selecting CNT candidates, and developing teaching materials, and so on. MTs said "I don't even know how to proceed and organize the training because I didn’t have a chance to do before, but it's a very good learning experience.”

Time management did not go well, and lectures sometimes ran over two hours at first, but as the day progressed, the lecturing and group work facilitation skills improved remarkably. The nurses who joined this training participated actively until the end of the training. As the days went by, more and more they were willing to share their opinions and knowledge with each other.

In the pre-test conducted at the beginning of the training, most of the participants had a 50% correct response rate, but almost all of them had a correct response rate of 80% or higher in the post test. A skill check test was also conducted to brush up on nursing care skills.
