Holding of the 2nd Joint Coordination Committee Meeting on The Project for Improvement Cyber Resilience in Cambodia (November 11, 2024)
The second Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) meeting was held on November 11, 2024.
The JCC was attended by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (the project implementing agency), JICA Headquarter, JICA Cambodia Office, and government agencies involved in cybersecurity in Cambodia (Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, National Bank of Cambodia, etc.).
At this second JCC meeting, MPTC project members, Chief Advisors, and JICA experts reported on the progress of the activity plan agreed to at the previous JCC meeting in September 2023. It was confirmed, along with a tentative project evaluation, that the project is generally progressing as planned, including the provision of technical training in the field of cybersecurity for MPTC staff and awareness-raising activities for university students. In addition, the fact that an MPTC officer who participated in Training in Japan (JICA Knowledge Co-Creation Program, KCCP) “Defense Practice Against Cyber Attacks” in May 2024 contributed as a lecturer to a training session and applied his experience to develop skills and knowledge of other MPCT officers was highly evaluated by all stakeholders not only for the outcome of the training but also as an activity that contributes to the sustainable development of the MPTC. It is expected that similar activities will be continued in the future. As the provision of more advanced technical training is planned for fiscal year 2025 and beyond, discussions among the representatives concerned were deepened on how to achieve specific outputs under the project framework.
The JCC meetings are held annually, bringing together the representatives from relevant parties involved in the project, including the head of the project implementing agency on the Cambodian side, JICA headquarters and JICA Cambodia Office, to report on progress during the project implementation period and discuss future plans.
