Participation in the JICA Overseas Technical Training "Cyber Defense Exercise" in Indonesia
The four (4) officers from the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC) participated in the JICA Overseas Technical Training which called the Third Country Training Program "Cyber Defense Exercise" held in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, from January 20 to January 31, 2025.
This Third Country Training Program was conducted as part of the activities of the JICA Project for Human Resource Development in Cyber Security Professionals implemented in Indonesia. In addition to participants from Indonesia and Cambodia, cybersecurity professionals from the Philippines also participated in this training.
The purpose of this training is to develop instructors (Red Team) who have acquired the skills to design, build, and conduct cyber attack defense exercises in their own country. In this training, Japanese cybersecurity engineers act as the Red Team, constructing a system for exercises within a virtual environment (Cyber Range) and launching cyber attacks on this system using methods that have been used in real-world scenarios. The trainees take on the role of the Blue Team, defending the system in real-time, which provides them with practical, immersive training experience. Through the training, the four MPTC officers have gained practical defense skills as well as knowledge as Red Team.
The four MPTC offices who participated in this Third Country Training Program are scheduled to serve as instructors at the "Blue Team Exercise" to be held in Cambodia from March 20 to 21. Through this initiative, the enhancement of "cyber defense" skills and the dissemination of knowledge within related organizations in Cambodia are expected.
