Semi-annual Project Meeting to Discuss the Project Progress and Next Steps

On August 6, 2025, the NCD Control Project held a meeting to review discuss the Project’s progress from February to July 2025, based on the semi-annual report, and to discuss the next steps. The meeting was led by the Project Director H.E. Dr. Ngov Kang and participated by the health officers from the Preventive Medicine Department, and Kampong Cham Provincial Health Department, and JICA team members.

Regarding HPV test-based cervical cancer screening, one of the priority activities, the participants agreed to conduct screening campaigns at provincial and/or district referral hospitals in Kampong Cham. The Project will initiate the development of an operational manual, selection of HPV testing platform, and training of health department and hospital staff, which are necessary for implementation.

Note) HPV (human papillomavirus) test is one of the methods for cervical cancer screening. The test has the advantages of higher accuracy and longer screening interval compared to the traditional visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA).
