Held the Progress Review Meeting of the National Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) 2022-2030
On December 9, 2025, the Project supported the Ministry of Health (MoH) of Cambodia in organizing the Progress Review Meeting of the National Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) 2022-2030. This meeting marked the second review meeting, following the one held in November 2024.
The objectives of this meeting were to reflect on the past year’s activities, review the progress of the 81 key activities outlined in the Strategic Plan, and identify priority activities for the year 2026.
The meeting was chaired by H.E. Dr. Ngov Kang, the Secretary of State for MoH and Project Director of NCD Control Project, and was attended by H.E. Dr. Sok Chour, Deputy Director-General for Health along with representatives from MoH departments, development partners and NGOs, including WHO, UNICEF, World Bank, CHAI.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Dr. Kang emphasized that achieving the goal of reducing premature mortality from NCDs by one-third by 2030 requires not only the MoH but also all relevant ministries and institutions to work together in a coordinated effort. Areas of focus for progress included: taxation for alcohol and sugar-sweetened beverages; integration of oral health and eye health screening with diabetes and hypertension screening, implementation of HPV test-based cervical cancer screening, and improvement of NCD Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
The Project will continue to work in close collaboration with stakeholders towards achieving the Project Output 1 “National NCD program is effectively implemented and monitored by MoH based on the National NCD Strategic Plan 2022-2030”.
