MoH and JICA Convened 2nd Joint Coordination Committee Meeting of the joint Non-Communicable Disease Control Project
On 16 January 2026, the Ministry of Health (MoH) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) held the 2nd Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) Meeting of the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Control Project at the Himawari Hotel.
The meeting was chaired by H.E. Dr. Ngov Kang, Project Director of the NCD Control Project. The session brought together senior MoH officials, the Kampong Cham Provincial Health Department, provincial and district referral hospitals, key development partners, JICA and Japan Embassy.
The primary objectives of the meeting were to present the project’s progress and next steps, and to agree on revised project indicators in the Project Design Matrix (PDM), ensuring that they appropriately measure the outcomes of the project activities.
The key highlights are as follows:
- Monitoring the progress of the national NCD program
- Strengthening NCD service delivery within the provincial hospital and referral hospitals across Kampong Cham Province
- Strengthening cervical cancer screening program, focusing on the continuity from HPV-based screening, colposcopic diagnosis, and precancerous lesion treatment by thermal ablation or LEEP
Looking ahead, participants engaged in a productive dialogue about the planned activities for 2026–2027. The committee reaffirmed its dedication to improving the quality and accessibility of NCD services through a strengthened national health system.
In his closing remarks, H.E. Dr. Ngov Kang emphasized that sustained partnership and coordinated actions are essential to reducing the burden of NCDs and protecting the well-being of all Cambodian people.
