Review of Project Activities and Achievements and Discussion on the Way Forward between the Ministry of Health and JICA

On 10 August 2026, officials from the Ministry of Health (MoH) and JICA, including H.E. Dr. Ngov Kang, Project Director and Secretary of State of MoH, met at the MoH to review the project’s activities and achievements from February to July 2026 and discuss the way forward. The meeting was attended by five representatives from the MoH, two representatives from the JICA Cambodia Office, and five members of the JICA NCD Control Project team.

During the meeting, Chief Advisor Dr. Haruyama and NCD Control Expert Ms. Otaki presented the major activities undertaken and achievements made during the period. These included official approval of Project-supported national standards and patient education materials, quarterly organization of NCD data review meeting, and implementation of HPV test-based cervical cancer screening campaign at Kampong Cham Provincial Hospital. The presentations provided an opportunity to share the achievements and discuss challenges with the counterpart.

The participants also discussed issues related to NCD EMR data and the calculation of Project indicators based on it. MoH confirmed that they would take the lead in addressing these issues, and the participants exchanged views on specific measures to be taken going forward.

Approximately two and a half years have passed since the project was launched in February 2024. To date, cooperation to strengthen the capacity of the MoH and Kampong Cham Province in diabetes, hypertension and cervical cancer control has progressed steadily.

Going forward, the project will continue to consolidate and further build on these achievements, while strengthening cooperation with the MoH to ensure that the initiatives can be sustained and further developed beyond the completion of the project.
