Site Visit to a Private Vehicle Inspection Center in Bangkok
On May 23, 2025, we visited a private vehicle inspection center in Bangkok, Thailand. During the visit, we closely observed the actual equipment and operations for a wide range of inspection items. In the current vehicle inspection system in Thailand, the long interval before the first inspection leads to a tendency for aging vehicles to remain in use for extended periods, which poses significant challenges in terms of emissions and safety. Furthermore, the absence of a centralized database for accident and repair history makes it difficult to track the past condition of vehicles, raising concerns about the risks of re-registration and resale of accident-damaged or rebuilt vehicles. Going forward, we hope to leverage these on-site insights to propose improvements in both system design and practical operations, thereby contributing to the development of a sustainable vehicle management and ELV (End-of-Life Vehicle) system in Thailand.
