Collaborative Activities with the United Kingdom in the Field of Cybersecurity
As part of the project’s ongoing efforts, collaboration with the United Kingdom has advanced a range of initiatives in the field of cybersecurity in Mongolia.
From last year through the first half of this year, the project collaborated with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Communications (MDDIC) of Mongolia, and the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre (GCSCC) of the University of Oxford to assess Mongolia’s current cybersecurity capacity.
The results of this assessment were compiled and reported successfully, paving the way for the next phase of joint activities in September and October 2025.
In September, a National Cyber Crisis Plan and Tabletop Exercise was conducted to strengthen Mongolia’s national-level response capabilities to cyber incidents.
Subsequently, from October 27 to 31, a National Cyber Risk Assessment (NCRA) Workshop was organized.
The objective of this workshop was to enhance the safety and resilience of critical infrastructure sectors through a comprehensive national-level cyber risk assessment.
With the cooperation of UK experts, participants received hands-on training on cyber risk analysis methodologies and the use of assessment tools.
This training is expected to enable Mongolian officials to independently carry out cyber risk assessments in the future.
Looking ahead, JICA and the United Kingdom will continue to work closely with the Government of Mongolia to further strengthen the national cybersecurity framework and promote sustainable capacity development.
