Nationwide Launch of the “Cyber Fraud Prevention Campaign” through Public-Private Collaboration

As part of the Project’s activities, the “Cyber Scam Prevention Campaign” was launched nationwide in Mongolia on May 19, 2026. The campaign will be implemented over a one-month period in collaboration with relevant organizations, including the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Communications (MDDIC), the JICA Project for Human Resource Development in Cybersecurity, the National Police Agency, the Communications Regulatory Commission, the Mongolian Bankers Association, and PublicCSIRT (a specialized organization that supports responses to cyberattacks).
In recent years, Mongolia has seen an increase in online scams, phishing, and other cybercrime-related incidents due to the expansion of internet and social media use. In response to this situation, the Project has been working not only to develop cybersecurity professionals, but also to raise cybersecurity awareness among the general public.
At the press conference held on May 19, the launch of the campaign was announced, and information on the campaign activities and awareness-raising messages was shared with the media. Mr. B. Myagmarnaran, State Secretary of MDDIC and Project Director of this Project, emphasized the importance of each citizen understanding cyber risks and taking appropriate preventive measures.
Through this campaign, a total of 25 awareness-raising activities will be conducted using various media, including posters, videos, and FM radio. These activities will cover topics such as common cyber scam methods, password management, and personal information protection. In addition, the fact that relevant public and private sector organizations were able to jointly share information on awareness-raising content and emerging scam methods, and proceed with the production of materials in close coordination, represents an important achievement for future sustainable efforts.
In Japan’s “Cybersecurity Strategy,” which was approved by the Cabinet in December last year, the importance of “enhancing cybersecurity through the participation of all” is also emphasized. In this context, deepening each individual citizen’s awareness and understanding of cybersecurity is expected not only to contribute to the reduction of harm at the individual level, but also to lead to the overall improvement of cybersecurity across society.
The Project will continue to support the strengthening of Mongolia’s cybersecurity framework and the creation of an environment in which citizens can use online services safely.
