News#14 METRAP-Maputo at Sustainable Mobility Week 2024 in Maputo
The 7th edition of SMW was held from 28 June to 11 August 2024 under the theme "Connecting Ideas and Building Paths to Active Mobility" with various activities. Among the activities, METRAP-Maputo and DMTT conducted a Children's Traffic Safety Park event. The activity was held at the Kurhula Primary School on 31 July in cooperation with DMTT and EMTPM. A total of 46 Grade 1 students participated in the activity. The activity included illustrative lectures on road safety signs and do's and don'ts, illustrative activity worksheets, and hands-on practice on a small-scale traffic mat representing sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, and intersections. In addition to learning for young children, the activity inspired DMTT, EMTPM and schools to develop the concept of hands-on road safety education and children's traffic park.
