News#22 Zimpeto Bus Terminal Pilot Project (October 2025)
As part of the METRAP-Maputo project's initiatives, several improvement interventions were carried out at Zimpeto, Maputo's busiest bus terminal.
These interventions aimed to reduce mobility issues at the terminal and included construction work. On October 3rd, 2025, the terminal improvement was handed over to the Maputo City Council in a ceremony attended by relevant organizations such as CMM, VMTT, DMTT, Kambukwana District, EMTPM, Municipal Police, the JICA Mozambique representative, and the JICA Expert team.
The construction work included a new entrance to facilitate the movement of buses into and out of the terminal, ground markings for pedestrian crossings inside the terminal and new pavements, as well as the rehabilitation of the terminal police station which was vandalized during the construction work.
These interventions aim to improve urban mobility and ensure greater comfort and safety for transport users at the terminal.
