News#10 METRAP-Maputo Introductory Meeting for the New JCC Members (March 2024)

The METRAP-Maputo Introductory Meeting was held on March 11, 2024, in response to the appointment of new mayors and/or senior management across several municipalities in the METRAP-Maputo Project's area of activity. The primary objective was to introduce these new members to the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) and familiarize them with the project's objectives and progress. Mr. Kobayashi Chiaki (Senior Resident Representative of JICA Mozambique) initiated the meeting with a concise overview of the project outline and welcomed the new members. This was followed by greetings from Mr. Armando Bembele (AMT) and an opening remark by Mr. Councilor Fernando Uache, the councilor of VMTT as the Project Director. Subsequently, the counterparts and experts from the relevant technical working groups then presented the progress of the project’s three outputs, along with discussions among the participants. As a closing remark, Mr. Fernando Uache (VMTT) expressed his gratitude to all participants, particularly those from the municipalities such as Matola, Matola Rio, and Boane. He expressed the meeting would pave the way for addressing key questions and emphasizing the importance of collective participation for the success. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Fernando Uache of VMTT, Mr. Lourenço Albino, the president of EMTPM, and Mr. Armando Bembele, the administrator of AMT, shared their insights on the outputs of the METRAP-Maputo project through a brief video presentation.
