Consultative Workshop on the Pilot Implementation Plan
Building on the successful completion of the recent field pre-tests, a Consultative Workshop took place on the 14th of January 2026, under the leadership of the Family Welfare Division, Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population.
The focus was on planning the pilot implementation on the MCH Handbook. All participants from the Department of Health Services, development partners, and professional bodies, including UNICEF, WHO, UNFAP, and MIDSON, gathered to discuss the orientation modules and content for service providers and Female Community Health Volunteers.
We were honored to have Ms Keiko Osaki from JICA Headquarters deliver an online presentation on “Global experience and lessons learned from other countries on the effective introduction and use of MCH Handbook”. In addition, Dr Akira Shibanuma of the University of Tokyo shared research evidence on “Research evidence for the Continuum of Care for Maternal and Child Health by using integrated Home-Based Records”.
The pilot implementation is set to launch in the second quarter of 2026 in Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, marking a major milestone in standardizing maternal and child health care and records.
Together, we are securing a healthier and happier future for every mother and child in Nepal!
