Project News

An initiative of nurses for the Project in the partner hospitals.

We will aim to develop the capacity of the lecturers at the nursing colleges and hospital nurses of its partner hospitals in the training skills to improve the quality of the clinical practice[1]. Therefore, the understanding and participation of the hospital nurses are vital.

We are currently trying to get their cooperation and organize some committees that will be the focal points of the project activities in the hospital for nursing colleges and its partner hospitals. The training for the Clinical practice trainer is one of the activities that the hospital nurses will participate in. To guarantee continuity after the Project, we proposed making some committees as the basis of decision-making that nurses can appeal their initiatives, such as the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) which coordinate the clinical practice with nursing college, and the Capacity /Carrere Development Committee which manage the capacity building or career path of hospital nurses.

During July and August, we visited three partner hospitals of the target nursing colleges to hold meetings with hospital nurses. It is encouraging that, in any hospital, we could meet the nurses full of enthusiasm for the project purposes and stood for a candidate of the member of committees, of course, although we could find that the interest is dependent on individuals.

We heard that nurses are not satisfied much with their social images of nurse jobs, positions in the hospital, and carrier paths. There are many committees in the hospitals, but, in many cases, the committees for nurses are not settled, so our proposal that nurses have committees for their capacity/carrier development through the Project activity was accepted gladly. Also, regarding the current clinical practice situation, they commented the hospitals haven't prepared the appropriate condition for the clinical practice, and nurses can't attend to student nurses because they are tied up with tasks in the ward. They suggested that one of the reasons for this is the lack of a focal point to coordinate with colleges, so the setup of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) was also accepted very positively.

Hospital nurses listed up the member of committees soon after our visit. Now, the nursing colleges started a new school year and are planning the clinical practice schedule. We will try to have JCC before starting the clinical practice to make a roadmap and exchange ideas for improvement of the quality of the clinical practice.
