Joint Field Survey conducted in Jimma and Southwest Shewa Zones to select Pilot Districts for Climate Resilience Project

Project experts and counterpart personnel appointed by Oromia Regional Government jointly conducted the field survey in six districts nominated by the authorities of Jimma and Southwest Shewa Zone to select pilot districts for Climate Resilience Project. This joint survey was conducted from 5th to 15th of July and the team was accompanied by representatives from Zone Agriculture and Environmental Protection Offices.

The survey started with a brief discussion with higher officials of each zone about the project objective, particularly planned project activities which deal with developing action plan in pilot districts to strengthen the planning and implementation process to enhance their resilience. During the survey, district officials presented socio-economic situation and actively discussed about recent climate change and its impact on agriculture and forestry sector.

During the wrap up meeting, the survey team and zone officials agreed to select Setema and Dawo to be pilot districts from Jimma and Southwest Shewa Zones respectively. The project team will continue to deepen the dialogue with these stakeholders to initiate pilot activities.
