The objective of this project is to boost the capacity for a system to exchange biodiversity data and access standardized information in Argentina. The capacity for biodiversity preservation and sustainable use of resources in Argentina will also be improved.
Under this project, a study will be conducted on agencies managing biodiversity data, and educational activities such as workshops, training and seminars will be held throughout the country for related agencies. A coordinating system among the agencies having the capacity to manage biodiversity data will be constructed based on the technology and experience of the Japan Integrated Biodiversity Information System or J-IBIS program.
A standardized data collection method will be established for biodiversity data systems in Argentina, and such information will be shared in each province as well as with other countries in Latin America. The necessity of standardized data collection methods for a database is particularly pressing as there are no regulations covering plant and animal database collection in Argentina such as seen at universities and research institutions in Japan.
