The Signing Ceremony on Contract Farming on Purchasing and Selling Proceed Cashew Nut and Memorandum of Understanding between Public-Private Producer Partnerships

Through a scheme of the SDGs business supporting surveys, JICA supports Top Planning Japan Co., Ltd. (TPJ)'s SDGs Business Model Formulation Survey with the Private Sector for Establishing a Value Chain and Securing High Added Value for Cashew Nuts in Cambodia in a very closed cooperation with Department of Agro-Industry (DAI), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. The company has its strength in food safety and quality assurance methods and aims to establish processing techniques and standard to make great quality of Cambodian cashew nuts.

As one of the results during the study by TPJ, Ms. Inn Laihout, one of the TPJ's local partners, a cashew nuts processor in Kompong Thom, who processes cashew nuts based on the TPJ's processing standard signed the contract farming with Khmer Organic Cooperative as well as the MoU with DAI/MAFF and NGO. TPJ's activity and Signing Ceremony today are a role model and very significant steps forward for improving cashew nuts value chain in Cambodia which is very well-aligned with MAFF's priority direction on Public-Private-Producer Partnership (4Ps).
