Seminar on the private sector development regarding production and quality control. KAIZEN 5S.

Background

Around 25 participants from the government and private sector participated in the seminar. Technology of the TQM (Total quality management, Production control, 5s Kaizen were transferred to the trainees.

Speech by Japanese expert (Mr. Kawamura / 10 min.)

Explanation of outline of the course
Explain the overall training course
10:45 - 11:00 Break  
11:00 - 12:45 [Lecture] Outline of TQM What is TQM? Overall explanation. Japanese way of production management and quality management. History of TQM, management by objectives, what is essential for such activities?
12:45 - 13:45 Coffee break  
13:45 - 14:45 [Lecture] Policy management What is policy management by objectives? What is strategic policy management? Understandable explanation
14:45 - 15:45 [Lecture] Implementation of TQM and its effect (incl. cases) What is TQM? Japanese way of product management and quality management. History of TQM, management by objectives
Provide cases of other developing countries.
Emphasize that it is necessary to create a new method appropriate for each country instead of imitating Japanese method and that Japan will help develop such a new method.
15:45 - 16:00 Break  
16:00 - 17:15 Problem solving - Group discussion (Part 1) Group Discussion, dividing 30 participants into 4-5 groups.
Decide subject for the 2nd day's problem solving and grouping to discuss.
Decide role-sharing in each group (e.g. leader, clerical, presenter)
Example of subjects: SMB development needs, status of corporate activities

What is kaizen? Describe the method born in Japan.

11:35 - 13:00 [Lecture] QCC, suggestion system
Q&A
Explain small group activity and suggestion system. Emphasize the importance of a method suitable for organizational culture and social system.
13:00 - 14:00 Coffee break  
14:00 - 15:20 [Lecture] 5S, equipment management (TPM) Explain outline of 5S activity, facility and equipment management (incl. TPM)
15:20 - 15:35 Break  
15:35 - 17:20 [Practice] Problem solving (Part 2)
incl. presentation of result
10 min. x 3 groups
Divide participants into 4-5 groups.
Discuss SME development needs, status of company, etc.
17:30 Closing ceremony Lecturer (Mr. Kawamura) will summarize the result of overall course and close the session.
