Project on Human Resource Development for Disseminating PV (Photovoltaic) Systems

Background and Objective

photo

Home electrification rate in Ghana presently stands at 54 percent. This is expected to increase through supplemental power distribution line extensions of photovoltaic systems. There is thus an urgent need to develop personnel for maintenance at the regional level to ensure sustainable use of photovoltaic systems.

Project Summary

The Project on Human Resource Development for Photovoltaic Systems aims to increase the use of photovoltaic power generation by human resource development for the power systems. In order to use photovoltaic systems, knowledgeable people are required: practical trainers, field workers (electrician, repairer and others) and laypersons at the community level. The practical trainers gain their hands-on knowledge at institutions such as vocational schools and technical colleges, then, train field workers (electrician, repairer and others) to perform tasks such as installation and repair. Through their day-to-day operations, the field workers (electrician, repairer and others) transmit their knowledge of the systems to the laypersons, resulting in raising the general level of understanding in the community.
