In accordance with Indonesia's vision to become the world's 10 largest economies by 2030, the industrial revolution needs to be carried out through the Industrial Revolution 4.0 program (Industry 4.0). In order to realize Industry 4.0 and to be able to compete in the global market arena, the Indonesian government has made various efforts, one of which is to improve the quality of human resources. Considering that Indonesia has many resources - young potential talents and the education facilities - the development of such potential is essential to be prioritized. Efforts taken by the government in improving the quality of human resources are by establishing cooperation with various parties, one of which is cooperation with foreign countries.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been one of the partners to the Ministry of Industry to achieve the above vision and established a cooperation program with the Japanese government which is known as SDGS Business Verification with the Private Sector for Human Resource Development in Manufacturing with Digital Engineering for Making Indonesia 4.0. This verification will be carried out by a company called Lexer Research and Fuso Koki, supported by experts from Japan and IJB Net. This collaboration has been started since December 2019 and in 2021 it has entered the verification survey phase. In this phase, an automation system will be introduced to promote the lean manufacturing and the Japanese government will also donate a supporting tool called the bottle cap props along with a production simulation system called "GD.FINDI". In addition, this collaborative project will also contribute strengthening the education for digital engineering in the form of training for teaching staff at vocational schools (STMI) under the auspices of the ministry of industry. GD.FINDI system is planned to be installed in the digital industry center (PIDI 4.0). The training program (ToT) for STMI is expected to help improve the quality of Indonesian industrial human resources to strengthen competitiveness readiness in the global arena in the Industrial 4.0.

On July 27, 2021, a ceremony was held to celebrate the launch of a training program for digital engineering (ToT). The ceremony was attended by the Japanese Government, represented by the Japanese Ambassador, HE Kanasugi Kenji, and by the Indonesian government represented by the Minister of Industry, HE Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. Both parties expressed their appreciation for each other for being able to carry out this collaboration as expected, even though it was in limited conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
