Program Content

The length of the stay in Japan is 18 days comprised of the following:

  • Start with 3 days orientation in Tokyo or other areas on general information on Japan, Japanese culture, policy and economy and introduction/overview of the field participate (such as ICT development in Japan, economy development in Japan, education in Japan or whichever is relevent) Refer to Sample of Standard Program in Japan
  • follows by specialized program: lectures on the field participate, its history, present status in Japan, issues & problems, visit to institutions related to the field, workshop for group discussion and presentation.
  • Preparation of Action Plan and presentation of Action Plan.
  • End with evaluation of the program

Prior to departure for the program in Japan, participants would be gathered for pre-departure orientation organized by the Public Service Department. Participants are also encouraged to join the membership of Alumni for the Friendship Program (PAMAJA) or myJICA as part of JICA follow-up program for ex-participants.

Application Requirement

Requirement for each invited fields is specified in the program invitation. Interested applicant is encouraged to click here for detail of invited field and pre-requisite of each field invited. However, minimum requirement set by JPA is at least 3 years in service and permanent confirmed post with the Government.

Other basic conditions required:

  • Never have any previous visiting experience to Japan.
  • Age between 20 to 35 years old.
  • Applicant should be Malaysian Citizen
  • Application is subject to the approval of Malaysian Government
  • Sufficient command of English both in spoken and written
  • Physically fit and healthy to undergo training
  • Non military personnel, or working in Ministry of Defence
  • Candidate is not allow to reroute return flight unless with valid reason official purpose only
  • Pregnancy is not qualified for the program

Practical training and workshop style of training is incorporated with lectures and observations to institutions related to the field.

Administration (Human Resource Development) Civil servants in charge of human resource development/training, career development
Community Development Civil servants in charge of local area development, local council administration
Economy Development (Finance & Investment) Civil servants in charge of commerce & industry, SME, labor and workforce, economy affairs
ICT Civil servants in charge of planning and development of ICT, operation of network & IT
