Activities in Montenegro

Introduction of Projects

The Project for Improvement of Medical Equipment for Main Hospitals in Montenegro

Background of the Project:

In 2005 the Ministry of Health has published its master plan for national health policy "Development of the Health Care System in Montenegro for the period 2005-2010". The plan of actions aimed for strengthening the referral system and improving the functioning of hospitals.

Because of the economic situation, the health sector has faced difficulty in their budget. As a result, most of facilities and medical equipment have not been renewed since the 1990's. In recent years both the quality and volume of public health service has fallen, and the resulting poor function of the referral system has become a major problem.
