Introduction of Projects

The Study on Wastewater Management in Skopje (Development Study)

In North Macedonia, only several cities have sewerage system equipped with wastewater treatment plant, and in other cities, even in capital city of Skopje, wastewater is flowing into rivers without appropriate treatment.

Water quality improvement of Vladar is an urgent issue, as the river that runs through Skopje with the population of 500,000, and the government needs to make water management plan including improvement of water quality in terms of the preparation for the EU accession.

In this situation, JICA conducts development study with the final target of water quality improvement in the Vardar river.
