Introduction of Projects

Producing Smaller Scale Topographic Maps

Background of the Project :

In a line with previous JICA project "The Development Study for Establishing of a State Geographic Information Database" which purpose was to support development of basic GIS data and making of a 1:25,000 national base map, there is increase demand by Macedonian Government and private sector for small and medium scale map. Small scale maps are needed for various purposes such as cell phone company coverage planning, setting aviation routes, infrastructure planning such as roads and water pipes, and planning gas pipes. However, the Agency for Real Estate Cadastre, responsible for providing spatial data, does not posses 1:50,000 topographic maps and can not meet this needs. Therefore, Macedonian Government requested to the Government of Japan to dispatch experts to transfer technology for making small and medium scale topographic maps, by adjusting the scale of 1:25,000 maps that was formulated during the previous project.

  • Project type : Expert Dispatch Program
