Follow-up Report session for ex-participants of Med-Term training in 2025

On January 14, 2026, an online Follow Up Report session was held in Vietnam for three participants who attended the mid-term training program conducted at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) from September 24 to December 19, 2025. The presenters were the Vice President of Can Tho University, the Deputy Director of the state-run national broadcaster Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and the Deputy Director of a research institute under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The reporting session was held with the attendance of an officer from the Department of Training and Professional Development of the Central Organization Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CCOP), the counterpart organization for this project, as well as staff from the JICA Vietnam Office. During the session, the three participants presented summaries of the following policy recommendations, which they had prepared in English.

Developing Institutional Strategies for STI Partnerships and Regional Innovation: Lessons from Japanese Universities for Can Tho University

Improving public sector HR management skills and policies toward a motivation and high-performing workforce at the Voice of Vietnam (VOV)

Innovating employee performance management system in public organizations in the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; Vietnam: Insights and lessons from Japan

It was reported that, after returning to Vietnam, the three participants have already exchanged opinions with their colleagues and made proposals to their leaders based on the policy recommendations.

This was the final session of the mid-term training program, which has been conducted five times since 2019. A total of 23 participants have learned extensively under the guidance of GRIPS professors. The policy recommendations developed by the participants are expected to be utilized in Vietnam, where large-scale administrative reforms are underway.
