Lecture on “The Role of the State in Industrial Development” for the 1st Class of the Strategic Leaders Training

In July 2024, the Strategic Leaders Training started at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) for leaders and managers from Vice Minister to Director General level.

The Training is scheduled to be held four times over six weeks for approximately 50 participants, with lectures by leaders and renowned experts from both Vietnam and abroad.

Japan has been cooperating for the Training through this project, and Vietnam requested JICA to deliver a lecture on the theme of ‘Industrial, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor industry development in Japan today’.

In response to this request, on July 10, Mr. TANAKA Shigehiro, former Vice Minister for International Affairs of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and currently Corporate Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Government Affairs Officer of NEC, gave a lecture on "The Role of the State in Industrial Development -Experience from Japan-," covering comprehensively from the very purpose of industrial development, the roles of the national and local governments and the division of roles with the private sector, to future challenges, etc. that also provide ideas to the coming development of Vietnam.
