Mutual External Assessment in Four Southern Provinces (Output 1)

In February and March, each province conducted Mutual Assessment in four southern provinces based on 5G1S standard. The assessment was conducted for 3 days in each province. Through this assessment, trained assessors were able to complete the assessment within the estimated time and make summary, presentation and data input into designated excel file. Document storing is however required to be improved.
The hospital will continue to implement Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities with defined cycle based on the result of the assessment and pursue assessing their services based on 5G1S standards together with the healthcare section and provincial health office. They also will make efforts to sustain the services which they have achieved.

Patient Safety Trainings by the Short-Term Expert (Output 1)

A short-term expert has been dispatched and conducted simulated training for Patient Safety in each province. It was his third visit to Laos in this year. The expert also provided technical support for enhancing the function of Patient Safety Committee which was formed to improve the safety environment for patients. As a result of these activities, understanding of Patient Safety has evolved among medical staff in each hospital. Installation of a surgical safety checklist is one of the activities each hospital starts implementing to improve the safe services to patients.

Budget and Planning Trainings by DOPF (Output 2)

In March, the staff from Department of Planning and Finance (DOPF), MOH conducted Budget and Planning Training at the district level in Sekong and Attapeu provinces.
The participants from each district were trained to utilize the system and input the compensations, policy allowances data, the recurrent operating expenditure related to technical activities, subsidies, and contributions data into the form.
Through this training the staff in each district learned and understood how to input the data into the system, then the trainees were able to monitor and use the budget appropriately. They plan to conduct the same training in other provinces Champasak and Salavan.
