The third and final Project Joint Coordination Committee Meeting Evaluated the project achievement
The Project held the third and final Joint Coordination Committee Meeting on 11th June 2025 inviting the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the Embassy of Japan in Ghana and other partners.
In this meeting, the participants shared project achievement, lessons learned and best practices, and evaluated the success of “Project for the Improvement of Safety and Quality Management Systems in Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR)” during the three-year implementation period. Most notably, two remarkable achievements of NMIMR were highlighted: accreditation to ISO 15189: 2022 in December 2024 and 4-stars certification by Africa CDC for BSL3 facilities in March 2025. The Project members confirmed that NMIMR has established the quality and safety offices to lead the activities, and made strong commitments to sustain and further expand those achievements.
A journey of NMIMR QMS continues even after the project, which will require more efforts and costs to keep continuously improving the quality and safety of biomedical research and working environment in NMIMR.
We are proud to have contributed to the initiation process of the Project and trust that the quality of NMIMR’s research will be further improved, and the institute consequently collaborates with other African countries as a center of excellence for biomedical research.
