The 2nd Follow-up seminar for participants of the third and fourth training programs in Japan
On September 16, 2024, the 2nd follow-up seminar was held in Hanoi for participants in the third (17 participants) and fourth batch (15 participants) trainings in Japan.
The seminar was held with 25 participants, surpassing last year’s attendance, although some participants had to cancel it due to the huge damage caused by the super typhoon "Yagi".
The seminar was co-chaired by Vu Thanh Son, Director General of Department of Training of the Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CCOP), the counterpart organization, and Hiraoka Hisakazu, Senior Representative of the JICA Vietnam Office. Professor Kikuchi Masao of Meiji University, Professor Kamiko Akio of Ritsumeikan University, and Associate Professor Sasaki Kazuyuki of Tokiwa University visited Hanoi to lead the seminar.
In the morning session of the seminar, participants shared how they had applied what they had learned during the training in Japan and discussed the challenges they faced. The lecturers shared their comments and relevant examples from Japan. In addition, Professor Emeritus Akira Nakamura of Meiji University, the training advisor for this project, provided online advice from Japan.
In the afternoon session, the participants were divided into six groups, two groups for each of the three pre-selected topics for discussion: "urban development," "administrative reform," and "waste management." After the group discussions, each group presented its findings. During the discussions, the professors circulated around each group to give advice, and the participants gained many new insights through their discussions with each other.
The next day, Professor Kamiko Akio, Dr. Son, Director General of the CCOP Training Department, and the JICA representatives visited the Long Bien District People's Committee in Hanoi, where Mr. Vu Xuan Truong, who participated in the fourth training, serves as a Vice Chairman. During the visit, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Nguyen Manh Ha, Chairman of the People's Committee. Mr. Truong presented a regional development project plan, which incorporated what he had learnt during the training. Chairman Ha expressed his gratitude that the results of the training will contribute to the development of the region.
