On 30 April 2026, the 4th meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) of the “Project for Strengthening Community Policing” was held at the Ministry of Interior and Security.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Ouattara, Technical Adviser at the Ministry of Interior and Security, and was attended by 21 participants, including General Dosso, Deputy Director General of the National Police; the Chief Representative of the JICA Côte d’Ivoire Office; the Resident Representative and Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Côte d’Ivoire; and a representative of the Embassy of Japan in Côte d’Ivoire.
During the meeting, presentations were made on the following points:
- 1 . the status of implementation of the recommendations made at the 3rd JCC and the 4th Technical Committee (TC);
- 2 . the activities carried out since the 3rd JCC, as well as the planned activities;
- 3 . the revision of the Project Design Matrix (PDM); and
- 4 . the plan for infrastructure development related to community policing activities.
Following the presentations, the discussions focused mainly on the development of infrastructure for community policing. The project plans to establish police posts inspired by Japan’s Koban system. Participants exchanged various views on the functions of these posts, required facilities and equipment, and names that would be familiar and accessible to local communities.
Taking into account the observations made by JCC members, the project will continue to promote dialogue among stakeholders, in order to implement activities adapted to local needs and contribute to the consolidation and further development of community policing in Côte d’Ivoire.
