Project Kick-off meeting was held!

On 7th January 2021, the Project Kick-off meeting with the Agriculture Secretary (AS) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Cooperatives (MoAFLC) was held and discussed following 3 points: 1) Budget scale of the SHEP Biz, 2) Items which JICA can cover and 3) Measure to sustain the SHEP Approach in MoAFLC.

In terms of the budget scale, the JICA Kenya office explained that the SHEP Biz budget is smaller than the previous project called SHEP PLUS and more efficient and effective project activities are needed since the one of the project objectives is continuation of the SHEP Approach by the County governments and relevant organizations.

Regarding the items, the JICA Kenya office explained which items JICA can cover and cannot in implementing the project activities.

In order for the sustainability in MoAFLC, AS mentioned the possibility of appointing the SHEP desk in MoAFLC. However, the desk doesn't have budget cannot sustain the SHEP activities, thus the Project will discuss the roles and necessary budget for establishing the SHEP desk.

Meeting with AS at the beginning of the SHEP Biz was very much fruitful for smooth commencement of the Project!
