1st Project Steering Committee was held!

On 28th January 2021, the Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting was held and discussed following 3 points: 1) Selection of 10 Counties for 1st batch of the SHEP activities, 2) Additional members for PSC and 3) Approval of the work plan from January to June 2021.

In order to obtain objective information and ensure transparency for the selection, the project team developed the questionnaire, interviewed from County stakeholders and scored. For instance, the questionnaire contains questions such as the number of agriculture extension officers, available motorcycles for transportation, etc., rainfall and irrigation for potential of horticultural crop production, amount of the County's agricultural extension budget, etc. As a result, following 10 Counties are selected and approved: Nakuru, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Meru, Kitui, Makueni, Kilifi, Kwale, Tharaka Nithi and Nandi.

For additional member of the PSC, the representative of the County Executive Committee (CEC) and Chief Officer (CO) of the selected 10 Counties and Agribusiness relevant unit in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Cooperatives will be invited.

Regarding the work plan, planned SHEP activities such as CEC/CO workshop, selection of target farmer groups, baseline survey, etc. from January to June 2021 (which is corresponding with the Kenyan Financial Year) are shared.

With the approval of the PSC, the project activity will be getting up speed!
