County Sensitization Workshop was held!

3 days from 2nd to 4th March, the County Sensitization Workshop targeting CECs of 1st batch 10 Counties was held. The workshop aims for 3 objectives: 1) selection of target Sub-Counties, 2) develop Memorandum of Understanding stipulating the roles of County to continue the SHEP Approach and 3) Visit farmer groups which learnt the SHEP through the extension service by County.

On the 1st day, the outline of the whole project and how to select the Sub-Counties were explained. The project team requested to select the Sub-Counties which have the high potential to continue the SHEP, such as the high motivation of staff and the number of extension workers.

On the 2nd day, participants were divided into 3 groups and visited farmer groups. Participants seemed to realize the impact by hearing the changes brought by the SHEP directly from farmers.

On the last day, the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives and County governments were developed. It stipulates that as the roles of the County governments, the County will continue to provide the extension services utilizing the SHEP Approach with at least 5 farmer groups per year by County budget and human resources after the training conducted by the project.

The target Sub-Counties will be selected in March, and the SHEP training will be started in April!
