Introduction of Projects

Project for Capacity Development of Digital Basic State Mapping in Serbia

Background of the Project :

Establishing social infrastructure is one of the important issues in the Republic of Serbia. In addition, from the perspective of promoting foreign investment by neighboring and other EU countries, Serbia needs to change its existing spatial information standard for topographic maps to the world standard used in these countries. By the request of the Government of Serbia, JICA has started the technical cooperation project to strengthen RGA's capacity to create digital topographic maps, replacing from existing analog maps. In order to enable smooth technical transfer by Japanese experts and update the technical circumstance, JICA provides necessary equipment to RGA.

  • Project objective : To establish a sustainable system of make, revise, and provide digital topographic maps (Digital Basic State Map)

  • Duration : November 2009 − October 2011
  • Executing Organization : Republic Geodetic Authority
  • Project outputs
    1) Necessary regulations to make, revise, and provide digital topographic maps are prepared.
    2) System for digital topographic mapping and its revision is established.
    3) Training Program for digital topographic mapping is established.
