Introduction of Projects

Technical Training Course for Promotion of Management System of Mass Examination for Early Detection of Breast Cancer in Serbia

Background of the Project :

Annual mortality rate of breast cancer is very high in Serbia. One of the most effective methods to decrease the rate is regular mammography screening. It is, therefore, necessary to develop the capacity of medical institutions and human resources in Serbia.

At the request of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Government of Japan approved the above mentioned Project in May 2010. The objective of this Project is to improve screening and early detection of breast cancer through provision of medical equipment. For this purpose, JICA will provide mammographic units and relevant equipment to 39 medical institutions.

In connection with this project, JICA conducts technical training programs for the staff members of the Ministry of Health, who are responsible for mass examination for early detection of breast cancer, in response to the request of the government of Serbia.

  • Project outputs
    1)Cancer examination in Japan, and related information which suits to the situation in Serbia are learned and observed.
    2)Seminars in Serbia for better promotion of mass examination for early detection of breast cancer is organized by utilizing the training contents in Japan.
    3)Plans of implementation of mass examination for early detection of breast cancer is made
    4)The mass examination for early detection of breast cancer is planned.
